my life really IS a Seinfeld episode . . .

first of all, I want to say that it’s a really sad day when a person is too busy to blog. all of these great ideas going to waste?! perish the thought.

anyway, LAST week, I was so excited because I had gone to Jimmy John’s (sandwich place) the day before with a friend, and, oh, JOY, I found out that they deliver. Now, you have to understand that in NYC, it was almost unheard of for a chinese restaurant, let alone a Blimpie’s or similar, to not deliver. even some McDonald’s restaurants offered delivery!!!

not so in Grand Rapids, MI. (trust me on this one.) So I was very, very, very, very, VERY excited about the prospect of ordering from them. A few days later, I got three or four of my co-workers in on the party, and we were ready to order . . . I faxed the order in, waited the 45 minutes that the paper said to wait, then started to get nervous and called to verify that they had received my fax. I was told that yes, they had received it, but that no, they would NOT be delivering to us. Why? because we were “too far away”.

I work at the corner of 28th Street and Kalamazoo Avenue. The Jimmy John’s is at the corner of 28th Street and the East Beltline. Their cutoff is at Breton and 28th Street . . . my building is literally one city block beyond their “boundaries”. Definitely less than a mile. AND YET THEY WON’T DELIVER TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they have really good sandwiches. but now I’m mad at them and it will probably be a while before I can bring myself to order from there again . . .
